Ian Hamilton Finlay: Tree Column-Base ‘Saint-Just’, in the garden, Little Sparta. (Louis Antoine de Saint-Just, 1767-1794). The tree is a silver birch, the plants are strawberries. The ‘base’ is the upturned capital of a Doric pilaster. The name was cut by Keith Bailey. The drawing is by Andrew Townsend. The Committee of Public Safety, Little Sparta.
